The Village of Maple Bluff is embarking on a process to complete a strategic plan to establish a mission, vision, values, and priorities, in order to chart a course for major Village decisions over the next two to five years. The process will align long-term community values with operational and fiscal realities, assuring that the resulting plan is both visionary and implementable. The process is anticipated to be completed by Spring 2026. It will include survey, in-person, and on-line opportunities for community participation. This web page will be populated with materials to support and help residents participate in the strategic planning process.
Strategic Plan Process Framework
The framework (link) describes the purpose, roles, terminology, and schedule for Maple Bluff’s strategic plan and the process to create it.
Community Survey
The Maple Bluff Village Board and staff thank the Maple Bluff residents who participated in the November/December 2025 community survey to gather input related to the Village’s pending strategic plan. The 359 responses amount to over one-third of the overall adult population, which is an excellent response rate. The survey results are available by clicking here. On December 16th, the Village Board met to discuss these results and their implications for the strategic plan and remaining public steps to create it.
Other Stakeholder Interactions
To supplement the survey results, the consulting Village Planner in January and early February 2026 conducted other community stakeholder and “knowledgeable” interactions. These included a resident focus group drawn from interested survey respondents, discussions with the Village’s Police and Parks and Recreation Committees, a business owner questionnaire, and a meeting with City of Madison Planning staff persons. Results of these interactions will be posted below when completed.
Current Conditions and Trends Report
In February 2026, the Village Planner with support from Village and Capital Area Regional Planning Commission staff completed a draft report describing current conditions and trends applicable to planning for Maple Bluff’s future. A copy of the draft Current Conditions and Trends report is available by clicking here. This report does not include any future policy direction. Instead, it documents demographic, housing, and economic trends; inventories natural and cultural resources; describes current land use, transportation facilities, and utility infrastructure; details the range of community services available in Maple Bluff; and describes relationships between the Village and other players in the area.
